The Bainbridge Schools Foundation (BSF) partners with Island schools to inspire every student. In the four years I’ve had the honor of working at Ordway Elementary as its principal, BSF has helped us build a school garden, create an elementary design and engineering program, offer math and Spanish enrichment, purchase assistive technology, provide reading intervention support, and much more. Initiatives like these reach all students and inspire staff members to nurture an environment based on a genuine love of learning.
I began teaching in the Bainbridge Island School District 17 years ago because I was impressed by the district’s values and the community’s support for education. I’ve worked in four districts throughout my career, but I’ve never seen an organization that compares to BSF when it comes to keeping dedicated teachers in classrooms, providing grants for innovative programs, and supporting specialized training for all.
As educators, we know how fortunate we are to have access to grant support from BSF that allows us to channel our passion for learning, providing for each child’s social-emotional and academic needs. As parents, we know the reason our kids love school is largely due to the quality educators who create a fun, engaging classroom. Let’s make this fall’s BSF Clickathon campaign the strongest ever—we can help inspire our kids with the click of a mouse!
